DeafPLUS is working in partnership with Action on Hearing Loss to deliver a service for Men over 50 who have a hearing loss.
DeafPLUS will be delivering two free courses that will support Men who are experiencing some hearing problems.
Each course will offer the opportunity to find out more about hearing loss, what equipment is available, lip reading tips, develop good copying strategies and meet people like yourself who also have a hearing loss.
The course is open to Men over 50 (partners / wives / family members are welcome to come too).
Course 1 starts Tuesday 5th Feb to Tuesday 19th March
Course 2 starts Tuesday 4th June to Tuesday 16th July

Rainbow Mind is a new service aiming to tackle mental health issues for individuals within the LGBTQI+ community. Rainbow Mind is a collaborative project between Mind in the City, Hackney and Waltham Forest (Mind CHWF) and Mind in Salford, so will take place across London and Greater Manchester.
They are hosting a launch event in London on the evening of the 19th of June for the project - the event is free to attend and is a great opportunity to learn more about our services, specifically our upcoming Randomised Controlled Trial (RCT) on self-care and mindfulness skills for LGBTQI+ individuals.
The Mayor of Hackney Philip Glanville will be attending and opening our event, and there will be further panel discussions, activities, and food throughout the evening.

Chair Disco is a popular way to exercise for older Hackney residents.
Weekly Chair Disco sessions are being hosted at Adelaide Court every Friday morning at 10.30 am.
They run seated exercise sessions for older people – aged 50 and over - in East London.
Sessions are free and fun and a great way to get active and meet new people.
One Adelaide Court resident said: “This class has been a hit. I love the music – you can’t help yourself going just a little bit wild”.
Newcomers are welcome.

Rainbow Grow is an LGBTQI+ led community gardening initiative open to all who support their aims of providing a welcoming space for members of this community to grow edible plants and take part in gardening-related activities.
Since April 2018 they have been based at Hackney CVS. With lots of hard work and community participation in a short space of time they have turned a neglected courtyard into a productive and very attractive garden. They meet weekly on Tuesday from 5:30 to 8pm.

Silver Saturdays is a social club, bringing older people together for fun and creative activities at Mind's Wellbeing Centre. Once a month people from all over Hackney come together and enjoy a delicious home-made lunch and exciting activities which we alternate on a regular basis – such as mindfulness, bingo, line-dancing and quizzes.
Participants are welcome to join for the whole day, or they can come along for a particular activity. Carers are also welcome to come along to accompany individuals
