Yoga for Men (Male Carers / Hackney Brocals)
Tuesday, March 23.
Taking care of others can be emotionally and physically draining. Join other male carers and former carers from across London for a mindful yoga session focused specifically on building strength, flexibility and confidence. The different components of each session centre on some of the challenges faced by carers every day, such as isolation, fears of scarcity and loneliness. By attending this session you will not only get a yoga fix, but also an opportunity to:
– Learn ways to de-stress
– Feel empowered through safe physical exercise
– Be introduced to community resources
– Socialise with other men in your area

Carers’ Choir

Join the choir for carers! The World Harmony Orchestra (WHO) was founded to bring the gift of music to people who might not normally be able to access its wellbeing benefits. Group singing can be a valuable tool, helping to build confidence and self-esteem, developing compassion and empathy, stimulating communication skills, minimizing anxiety and providing an opportunity to connect with others – even virtually.

Join Madlyn Maya for a gentle chair yoga class every Thursday.
Yoga using a chair – either sitting or standing whilst using the chair as a balancing aid. This class suits all abilities and includes relaxation exercises and meditation. Great for stress relief and preparing for a good night’s sleep!

Carers have been found to be more vulnerable to a range of health and social problems than the general population.

Research points to social isolation, poor general health, depression, anxiety, fatigue, long term stress and low confidence.

Hackney Carers Centre offers support towards better outcomes for carers in Hackney through wellbeing activities, learning opportunities, counselling, life coaching and an advice service.

Whether you’re a carer yourself or a professional working in health and social care, sign up to the mailing list to learn about the help they offer and to hear about their latest events.

New project – Digital Inclusion
Hackney Carers Centre is looking for carers who’d like to get online and join in our online activities, but can’t afford the initial investment in the technology or broadband or are apprehensive of entering the digital realm. Let us help! Their trained support workers can help you access a Chromebook, digital training, broadband and more. If you know any Hackney-based carers who would benefit from this, please ask them to phone 020 8533 0951 or email anna.tokareva@hackneycarers.org.uk
