It’s National Safeguarding Adults Week – 18-24 November 2019
Protecting and safeguarding people is a governance priority for all charities and government guidelines make clear that safeguarding is a fundamental part of operating as a charity for the public benefit and that trustees must take reasonable steps to protect from harm people who are in contact with your organisation.
Over the last two years there’s been a huge focus on ensuring that charities meet the compliance requirements and meet the code of conduct for charities. Read more about compliance and the Care Act 2014 below.
Safeguarding is everybody’s responsibility
Your charity’s safeguarding policies and procedures should be:
- put into practice
- reviewed as necessary, always following a serious incident and at least once a year
- available to the public.
