Loneliness Annual Report: the first year

The government has published the first annual report since the publishing of the cross-government Loneliness Strategy in 2018.

A connected society: a strategy for tackling loneliness contained 60 new policy commitments from across nine government departments. 

This Annual Report provides an update on the progress made against each of these commitments, and sets out the government’s future direction of travel.
The report contains updates across a range of policy commitments, including:

  • Supporting workers to recognise and respond to loneliness
  • Pilot projects to learn about and respond to loneliness
  • Expansion of social prescribing: 1,000 additional social prescribing workers to be recruited by next yeear.
