Get out and about – make new friends
GOAL is a new project in partnership with Connect Hackney (Ageing Better) and funded by The Lottery Community Fund. It’s a bookable excursion service that takes you out for an activity – including transport there and back again. All activities are tailored to each individual, or to a group of individuals that want get to the same place, but don’t necessarily know one another.
It’s aimed at anyone in Hackney over 50 who’s having difficulty getting out or making new friends. You can join us to get out and about, gain the confidence to make new relationships with the people around you and take part in something happening in your area.
Costs start at as little as £3 per activity for transport. If the activity has an entrance or ticket fee then this will be additional to the £3.

There’s always lots going on – and G.O.A.L will provide you with the means to get out and about and meet new people / take up new activities and interests that will help you increase your confidence. You can see all their upcoming activities here.
After a short assessment, HCT will ensure that anyone taking part is matched to an activity that suits their requirements, interests and needs. They will provide an assistant on board the minibus, should this be required.

Once, you or the individual who you are referring has been registered with G.O.A.L, they will contact the individual over the project duration (3 months), offering various activities. Passengers are picked up and returned to their home address and all vehicles are wheelchair accessible. Family members, friends or carers may join passengers on the trips, should additional support be required, separate to a passenger assistant.
HCT has a standard transport needs assessment, so that they can ensure that your journey runs as smoothly as possible. After 6-8 weeks, HCT carry out a quick mid-review to assess the likelihood of you being able to exit the project after 3 months. If for any reason, you need to continue with us for longer, They will note this on your review and change the end date.
