Connect Hackney is now in the second phase of our £5.8m programme to reduce solcial isolation among older people, which is funded by the Big Lottery Fund.
We are now issuing invitations to tender for two areas of work identified as priorities for our work in 2018-21. Please note the downloadable documentation at the bottom of this post, which applies to both tender notices.
Please be aware that we can only accept one bid per organisation for each of the funding streams.
1) Invitation to tender for projects aimed at building the confidence of people aged over 60 to engage with different types of digital technology
Feedback from older people and research into digital inclusion has highlighted the concerns that some older people have about using digital technology. We are inviting organisations that have a track record of delivering IT projects (ideally to older people) to bid to deliver projects that support people aged 60-plus to improve their confidence in using different types of digital technology. We want to learn from projects that have the most success in helping older people to stay connected and access services on-line.
A total of £100,000 is available for this strand of work, with each tender submission capped at £25,000. The initial contract period is for 12 months but there is the potential for projects to be extended for a further period as we gather further learning and evidence on digital inclusion.
2) Invitation to tender to deliver community activities that bring older people and other age groups together to enjoy community spaces
In our “community conversation” focus groups with older people, they told us they would like more access to local spaces where people are able to meet and socialise. There was particular interest in structured activities that take place in comfortable and accessible spaces, and involve arts, crafts, music, and/or food, as well as opportunities to enjoy informal time with others.
A total of £120,000 is available to deliver this work and projects will be funded over two years. Bids will be capped at £20,000 per project and we will be prioritising activities based in the Woodberry Down, Clapton, Hackney Wick and Kings Park areas of the borough. This is because our evidence base suggests that there are geographic “cold spots” in Hackney, with limited activities for older people.
Deadline
The deadline for responses to both tenders is 12pm on Friday 24 August 2018 and projects will need to begin delivery from October 2018
Please contact Lola Akindoyin, Connect Hackney Programme Director at lola@connecthackney.org.uk if you have any questions about either tender.
