Connect Hackney has a Strategic Partnership Board and Older People’s Committee to make sure that the programme delivers its outcomes and meets the aims of the Big Lottery Fund, Ageing Better Fulfilling Lives programme. 

Connect Hackney is based at Hackney CVS and  the  Hackney CVSBoard of Trustees has overall accountability for the programme).

Strategic Partnership Board

The Strategic Partnership Board (SPB) is made up of representatives from Hackney CVS, Connect Hackney Older People’s Committee, Hackney Council, NHS City and Hackney Clinical Commissioning Group, the GP Confederation, Healthwatch Hackney and Age UK East London.

A key function of the SPB is to ensure that there are links between the work of the partners, Connect Hackney and the projects that we commission.

The Strategic Partnership Board objectives are to:

  • Have strategic oversight of the Connect Hackney programme and its aims;
  • Regularly review and input to the planning, delivery and evaluation of the programme;
  • Monitor the Connect Hackney contribution to the national Ageing Better programme and compliance with the national measurement frameworks.;
  • Share updates on the way that different sectors and agencies are changing and how this might affect the Connect Hackney vision.

Older People’s Committee

The Older People’s Committee (OPC) is made up of Hackney residents aged 50 years and over who expressed an interest, understanding or commitment to improving the lives older people experiencing or at risk of social isolation. Its key function is to act as an advisory body to the programme team and Strategic Partnership Board (SPB) in support of the objectives of the programme. Their input helps ensure that older people remain at the heart of Connect Hackney by being involved in the planning, delivery and evaluation of our work.

The Older People’s Committee objectives are to:

  • Help shape and identify the programme’s priorities based on the needs of older people in Hackney and in line with the programme’s aims;
  • Contribute to the design, delivery and evaluation of pieces of work that help deliver the programmes aims of reducing or preventing social isolation;
  • Work with Connect Hackney programme team to deliver specific aspects of the programme;
  • Share learning from the programme and its impact with a wider audience;
  • Represent CH at meetings and/or events both within Hackney and as part of the wider Ageing Better programme;
  • Participate in programme level decision-making through committee representation on the Strategic Partnership Board.
